Knee Pain Treatment with Low Level Laser Therapy

Patients suffering from knee pain from a previous injury or osteoarthritis may benefit from getting knee pain treatment with low level laser therapy (LLLT).

Seeking Chiropractic Care for Knee Pain

Chronic knee pain can be very debilitating: it can limit your level of daily activity, making it difficult to exercise, take walks, or even go to your mailbox. But LLLT may be able to give you relief from pain, allowing you to reintroduce some activities you previously thought you’d never be able to do again.

How LLLT Works

As the name indicates, LLLT uses lower-level lasers that emit smaller lights than regular lasers. Because the light is more moderate, it doesn’t produce heat, so the patient won’t feel a warm or burning sensation on the treatment site.

The laser is placed directly on the problem site and held there for a period of time depending on the level of treatment (usually several seconds up to a few minutes.) The light penetrates your skin, going down to a deeper level to regenerate cells.

This procedure is non-invasive and patients have not reported any pain or side effects. While some patients have experienced immediate relief, it may take a few more treatments before your knee pain subsides.

How Does LLLT Relieve Knee Pain?

Studies have shown LLLT can improve knee pain by:

  • Relieving pain
  • Reducing swelling and inflammation
  • Improving function
